Payments 09′ - A Vision of the Future - The Center for Future Banking
APRIL 8, 2009 ABSTRACT: The mainstream media, high-tech blogs and traditional banking publications feature many articles and opinion pieces about the future of banking and payments, and these stories highlight new technologies, new business models and new companies. Few of these stories feature traditional players and banks, payment processors and the traditional financial services players feature less often than new Web 2.0 players. And yet a few traditional players are making major investments in defining the future of banking. The MIT Media Laboratory and Bank of America recently created the Center for Future Banking to serve as an innovation engine to research and understand how banking and payments will be conducted in a world of rapidly changing social, economic, and information landscapes.
Attendees achieve an understanding of how large industry players are thinking about transformative business innovation; how emerging technologies impact the payments landscape; and how convergence and hyper connectivity transforms the financial services landscape.
